Approaching the Shudoin (Monastery)

"Approaching the Shudoin (Monastery)" Farther down and up a stream from the Shiokiba (execution grounds) is the Wako shima shudoin (Sea robber island monastery).

Note: This is a heavily fortified monastery. It is said to rest safely in Buddha's hand, a rock formation, which it was built in. The main approach to it is up a trail on the far bank of the stream. Then one has to then cross the stream and go up a steep stair to it's gate. It is a Zen Buddhist monastery.

Note: This is part of a historical fiction story placed on a island south of Japan in the year 1605 AD.
